Master of Data Science
University of Wollongong, Wollongong, NSW, Australia
About this program
Housed in the School of Computing and Information Technology, this is a conversion-friendly degree: people with a quantitative but non-CS background (maths, engineering, science, even some commerce graduates) can enter through the foundation stream. Coursework runs through statistics, machine learning, big data systems, and data visualisation, with more weight put on applied projects using real or realistic datasets than on pure theory.
UOW markets this partly on Wollongong's growing data-analytics employer base and partly on affordability relative to Sydney's data science masters programs, a genuine consideration for the international cohort making up a large share of enrolments.
