Master of Business Administration
Victoria University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
VU's MBA is aimed at working professionals rather than fresh graduates (most cohorts expect several years of prior work experience) and runs core units in strategy, finance, marketing and leadership before students pick electives to angle the degree toward their own industry. Delivery follows VU's block model even at MBA level, so units run intensively rather than stretching across a full trimester, which suits people fitting study around a job better than a semester-long weekly-lecture format would.
The program doesn't carry the brand weight of a Melbourne Business School or AGSM MBA, and VU doesn't try to compete on that ground. Its pitch is a more affordable, flexible MBA aimed at Melbourne's west and at international students wanting an Australian postgraduate business qualification with a manageable course load and strong migration-relevant skills assessment outcomes.
A capstone consulting project in the final trimester has students working on a real business problem, often for a small-to-medium enterprise rather than a large corporate client, which keeps the project grounded in the kind of business VU's own graduate network tends to run.
