Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Education (Primary)

WSU's combined Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Education (Primary) is a 320-credit-point program built around embedding professional experience from the very first year rather than saving classroom placements for later in the course. Students are in schools observing and assisting well before they're leading lessons themselves. Before students can undertake Professional Experience subjects, they need Working with Children clearance and Child Protection Awareness training, and the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students has to be cleared before the final placement subject, both NESA requirements rather than university-specific hurdles.

WSU trains a very large share of NSW's primary teaching workforce, particularly for schools across Greater Western Sydney, and the program's placement network reflects that. A meaningful number of graduates end up placed, and later employed, in the same public school systems across Western Sydney where the university itself draws much of its student body from.

The degree is NESA-accredited and meets the national Australian Professional Standards for Graduate Teachers, qualifying graduates to teach Kindergarten to Year 6 in NSW government and non-government schools.
