Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours)

The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) at WSU is an APAC-accredited four-year sequence that folds the honours research year into the standard degree, meaning students don't need to apply separately or complete an additional bolt-on year to get the accredited honours qualification required to continue toward psychologist registration. The final year centres on an independent research thesis, supervised individually, alongside advanced coursework in psychological assessment, ethics, and professional issues.

WSU's psychology research strength includes work in areas like mental health, addiction, and Indigenous psychology, and honours students often end up attached to active faculty research programs for their thesis rather than working in isolation, which gives some students a pathway into PhD study or research assistant roles straight after graduation.

As with all APAC-accredited honours degrees in Australia, completion is the first of several steps toward registration as a psychologist: graduates still need to complete further supervised practice or postgraduate training (a Master's or the 4+2 internship pathway) before they can register and practise independently.
