Master of International Hospitality Entrepreneurship
William Angliss Institute, Melbourne, VIC, Australia
About this program
William Angliss doesn't run this as an academic hospitality-theory degree. It's built for people who already have some industry background and want to launch or scale their own venture, whether that's a restaurant group, a boutique accommodation brand, or a food and beverage startup. Classes are small and run out of the institute's Melbourne CBD campus, which has its own working training restaurant, bars, and bakery on site, so the teaching staff are frequently people who've actually run venues rather than career academics, and guest lecturers tend to be working hospitality operators and investors from Melbourne's genuinely dense hospitality scene.
The degree centres on a business venture project: students develop an actual business plan or concept across the program, often one they intend to launch for real, and it gets pressure-tested against real costing, supply chain, and staffing constraints rather than treated as a hypothetical case study. Angliss's industry placement network (built over decades of supplying trained chefs, managers, and baristas to Melbourne hospitality) gives students access to venue owners and hospitality investors most standalone business schools can't offer.
Because the cohort is small and heavily practitioner-taught, the pace and flavour of each intake varies with who's enrolled and who's teaching that trimester. This isn't a large standardised MBA-style program, and Angliss is upfront that a lot of the value comes from the industry network and mentorship as much as from the coursework itself.
