JCU's campuses are in Townsville and Cairns in tropical North Queensland, both classified regional for skilled migration and much cheaper to live in than the big cities. The university is known for marine biology, environmental science, and tropical medicine.
JCU's official scholarship listing names the specific groups excluded beyond general government sponsorship: Australia Awards recipients, Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission (SACM) sponsored students, students transferring in from joint programs, and study abroad or exchange students. The university does not publish the exact GPA figure you must maintain each semester to keep the award, only that a strong result is required, so confirm the current threshold with JCU directly before relying on it for budgeting.
