Graduate
Master of Social Work
Adelaide University, Adelaide, SA, Australia
About this program
A two-year qualifying master's (96 units) that leads to eligibility for practice as a social worker. It includes up to 1,000 hours of supervised field placement across two practicum courses, typically 3 to 5 days a week including outside teaching weeks, so it is difficult to combine with heavy outside work.
Entry needs a bachelor's degree with at least one year full-time equivalent study in social and behavioural sciences, a GPA around 5.0 on a 7-point scale, and IELTS 7 across all bands. A criminal history check and Working with Children clearance are required within the first six months. One caveat: as of 2026 Adelaide University is working with the Australian Association of Social Workers on reaccreditation of the program for 2027, which applicants should confirm before enrolling.
