Bachelor of Theology

Avondale University, Cooranbong, NSW, Australia

About this program

Avondale runs one of the only standalone Bachelor of Theology degrees in Australia housed within a Seventh-day Adventist institution, and the course reflects that heritage directly: alongside standard biblical studies and biblical languages (Greek and Hebrew feature prominently), students work through Adventist doctrinal history and the denomination's distinctive eschatology, taught by faculty attached to the Seminary at the Cooranbong campus.

Most students aren't just doing this for personal interest. A large share go on to ministerial credentialing within the Adventist Church across Australia and the Pacific, or use the degree as the entry point into postgraduate theological study (Avondale's own Master of Arts in Theology, or seminaries overseas). The course is unapologetically confessional rather than comparative-religion in orientation, which is worth knowing going in: this isn't a general religious studies degree, it's training within a specific tradition.
