About this program
The Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation is a free tertiary pathway course for school leavers with no ATAR, or who have not achieved an entry level ATAR, and for mature aged students seeking an alternate entry into a bachelor's degree. With one on one support, students develop tertiary literacy, written, verbal and communication skills and general academic skills to prepare for university study.

Course structure
1 term of coursework
- 4 units
- 24 credit points
- over 1 semester full time (or part time equivalent)
- on campus or online (noting Nursing units are not offered online). Students commencing in Semester 1 enrol in WHPE10101 Foundations of Wellbeing
- ARTS11110 The Art of Scholarship
- plus 2 elective units
- selectable from 100 level units across Teaching
- Arts
- Business
- Ministry and Theology (with partial credit into Nursing) to maximise credit transfer into a student's planned degree
Admissions
A selection rank of at least 45 (ATAR plus adjustment factors), or 24 points in the IB Diploma, or NZ Year 13 NCEA Level 3 university entrance, or an appropriate Avondale-approved entrance exam score, or a Senior Secondary Certificate with no ATAR, for school leavers not currently in Year 12; an Australian Certificate III (or equivalent NZ certificate) for VET entrants; at least 2 completed Bachelor's units, a bridging/enabling course, or 3 completed units of Avondale's Undergraduate Certificate in University Preparation for those who have already attended university; overseas qualifications assessed under Avondale's Admission Policy (HE) Appendix 1.
