About this program
English language courses run by Bond University College for international students who need to reach the English standard for entry to a Bond degree, diploma or foundation program. Classes are full time and taught in mixed-ability groups at a level matched to each student, covering academic reading, writing, listening and speaking (including pronunciation) plus critical thinking, research skills and the technology and discussion-based learning style used at Bond. The program is officially classified by Bond as a Non-AQF award (program code CO-00023, CRICOS code 103878M), not a degree, diploma or certificate. Subjects run in two formats: standard 10-week blocks and a shorter 4-week Portfolio format, both scheduled several times a year. On reaching the required level, students progress directly into their target Foundation, diploma or degree program. Course structure
- Bond English has no fixed subject list in the way an academic degree does
- instead it is organised as academic English classes at different proficiency levels, covering reading, writing, listening and speaking (including pronunciation) plus critical thinking and research skills, run in mixed-ability classes so students of varying levels are taught together with individualised attention. Two subject formats are scheduled on the program's own timetable: standard English subjects that run for 10 weeks, and a shorter English Portfolio format that runs for 4 weeks, both offered multiple times a year (2025, 2026 and 2027 intake dates are published on Bond's own site). Program length and level depend on where a student starts and their target program, with outcomes and scheduling designed to lead directly into a Bond University College Foundation Program or diploma, or a Bond undergraduate or postgraduate degree
Admissions
Entry to the English program itself requires a result from one of the following English-language tests, no older than 24 months at the time of commencement: IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, Cambridge English: Advanced, or Pearson Versant. The result places the applicant at the appropriate starting level within the program rather than granting entry to a fixed single level.
