PhD
Master of Philosophy
Bond University, Gold Coast, QLD, Australia
About this program
A two-year research master's, the MPhil, which sits below the PhD in scope and is often used as a pathway into it. Candidates work with a supervisory team to develop a research proposal, pass a confirmation panel at the end of year one, complete bi-annual progress reviews, and produce a thesis of about 30,000 to 40,000 words, or equivalent creative work. There is no formal coursework: the focus is independent inquiry, research methodology and depth in the topic area. Candidates sit within Bond's Higher Degree by Research community with workspace, training, specialist advice and conference funding. It suits people testing a research career, building a track record before a PhD, or wanting a formal research qualification shorter than a doctorate.
