Master of Information Technology

CQUniversity Australia, Multi-campus, QLD + national, Australia

About this program

CQUniversity's Master of IT opens with a shared first term (project management, introductory programming, ICT services management, and information systems analysis and design) before splitting students into a major-plus-minor structure across networks and information security, mobile application development, or software design and development. That structure is deliberate: CQU expects a chunk of its IT postgrad intake to be career-changers rather than CS graduates, so the common term functions as a leveller before the specialised units start.

Because the degree is delivered across three terms a year rather than two semesters, students who front-load their study can complete faster than the nominal 24 months, and there are built-in exit points at 4 units (Graduate Certificate) and 8 units (Graduate Diploma) if circumstances change. ACS accreditation means graduates can pursue Australian Computer Society membership on the way to a Skills Assessment for skilled migration, which is a genuine driver of enrolment for CQU's substantial international IT cohort.
