About this program
The Master of International Relations at Deakin University explores geopolitical issues, climate change, poverty, pandemics and human rights, examining the nature of these problems and current responses. Students develop skills in policy analysis and gain a systematic understanding of the threats to peace and security, and learn about the global forces shaping political, social and economic life. Electives and optional focus areas such as conflict and security, diplomacy and activism, or human rights and international law let students define their direction. Graduates work in government, diplomacy, international organisations, NGOs and research.

- Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (0-credit-point compulsory unit) 2 credit points of core units: The United Nations and International Organisation
- Security and Strategy Plus a pathway (Minor Thesis, Research Paper, or Professional Experience) and electives from China and the World, Australian Foreign Policy, International Conflict Analysis, Human Rights in World Politics, Global Political Economy, Terrorism in International Politics, with optional specialisations in Conflict and Security, Diplomacy and Activism, or Human Rights and International Law
Admissions
Entry and credit load depend on prior study: a related bachelor's degree plus two years' relevant work experience, a related bachelor honours degree, or a related graduate certificate/diploma gives admission credit and a 1-year full-time course (8 credit points); other applicants complete the full 1.5-year, 12-credit-point course
