About this program
The Bachelor of Communication at Edith Cowan University prepares students for an ever-changing communication sector where the challenge is to help organisations build credibility, trust and brand awareness with their target audiences. Students develop knowledge and skills across advertising, public relations, digital communication, public affairs and community relations and engagement, and gain an awareness of strategic communication. Graduates work across the communication and media industries in a crowded, fast-moving media landscape.

1 term of coursework
- Semester 1Requires 240 credit points of core and core-option units plus 120 credit points of electives, with no ATAR required for entry (Creative Humanities Portfolio Entry pathway). Year 1: Foundations of Advertising, Communication Campaigns, a core option, an elective
- Semester 1Understanding Audiences, Media Content Strategy, Media Law and Ethics, an elective (Semester 2). Year 2: Digital Content Creation, Principles of Inclusive Communication, Storytelling and Social Media Influence, a core option
- Semester 1Strategic Branding, Strategic Social Media, two electives (Semester 2). Year 3: Corporate Communication and Public Relations, three electives
- Global Communication, the capstone Communication Agency unit, an elective (Semester 2). Core options include Radio and Podcast Production, Fundamentals of Journalism, Introduction to Editing, and Creative Writing and the Market. Elective sequences available in Creative Writing and Photography. Accredited by Communication and Public Relations Australia (CPRA). Total: 3 years full time or part time equivalent, on campus or online
Admissions
All applicants must meet the academic admission requirements for this course. The indicative or guaranteed ATAR is as published where applicable, or academic admission requirements may be satisfied through completion of one of the following: AQF Certificate IV, 0.25 EFTSL of study at bachelor level or higher at an Australian higher education provider or equivalent, an Undergraduate Certificate, the Skills for Tertiary Admissions Test, a University Preparation Course, the Indigenous University Orientation Course, or the Experience Based Entry Scheme. For international students, requirements include secondary school results.
