About this program
Edith Cowan University Master of Engineering is for graduates who hold a non-professionally-accredited engineering or technology degree and want to upgrade to an accredited engineering qualification, or to move into a new specialisation such as civil and environmental or mechanical engineering. Students complete five core units, 11 specialisation units and a practicum unit, and must gain at least 12 weeks of full-time-equivalent practical work experience before graduating. ECU admission and English language requirements apply. Indicative international tuition is around A$45,400 per year. Graduates work as civil, environmental, structural and water resource engineers and as construction managers, in the development, design, improvement and construction of infrastructure and civil engineering systems.

Course structure
- Students complete 4 core units
- 12 specialisation units and a practicum. Year 1 covers Engineering Innovation and Ethics plus specialisation units in Semester 1
- then further specialisation units in Semester 2. Year 2 covers Engineering Professional Practice and a Master of Engineering Project 1 plus specialisation units
- then Engineering Management and a Master of Engineering Project 2 plus final specialisation units. Total: 2 years full time equivalent

Admissions
Applicants need a bachelor degree in engineering or engineering technology, a Bachelor of Engineering Science, or a Master of Technology; applicants with an Engineers Australia accredited four year AQF level 8 Bachelor of Engineering Honours or a Master of Technology may be eligible for reduced course duration through credit and recognition of prior learning. Academic admission requirements (Band 8) may be satisfied through completion of one of the following: a bachelor degree in a cognate discipline, or, where accepted, equivalent prior learning including at least five years of relevant professional experience.
