La Trobe's Master of Philosophy is an internationally recognised research Master's degree for students developing advanced skills in independent, sustained research. The degree culminates in a thesis of up to 50,000 words, or its practice-based equivalent, that demonstrates a critical application of specialist knowledge and makes an independent contribution to the field.
The high-cost designation applies to research areas with higher supervision, laboratory or equipment costs, and candidates in these areas apply under a different course code and fee structure than the standard-cost Master of Philosophy.
