About this program
Use data, statistics and artificial intelligence to improve performance and decision-making in sport with La Trobe University's Master of Sport Analytics. In this degree, you'll develop advanced expertise in sport analytics while learning how to transform data into meaningful insights for athletes, teams and sporting organisations. You'll build strong foundations in probability, statistics and analytical methods before applying artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models and generative AI to performance analysis, talent identification, injury management and fan engagement. You'll work with industry-standard tools including R, Python and SQL while learning how AI is reshaping sport analytics workflows. Apply your learning through an industry project with leading sport organisations, including Carlton Football Club, Champion Data, Cricket Australia, the AFL and the Australian Institute of Sport. You'll work with AI agents and contemporary analytics workflows to solve real-world sport analytics challenges while developing the technical, analytical and communication skills to support evidence-based decision-making across the sport industry. By studying the Master of Sport Analytics, you will learn how to: analyse sport performance using data, statistics and analytical methods apply artificial intelligence, large language models, generative AI and machine learning to sport analytics workflows evaluate athlete performance, talent identification, injury management and fan engagement using evidence and data communicate analytical insights to support decision-making across sporting organisations apply sport analytics methods to real-world challenges through an industry project with leading sport and technology organisations. The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 9 - Masters Degree.

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor degree (or equivalent). Prior learning developed through relevant work experience or professional accreditation, where it is deemed to be at least equivalent to that obtained through a Bachelor degree, may be considered.
