About this program

The Master of Applied Linguistics at Macquarie University is a master's degree. The overall aim of the Master of Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) course is to graduate professional language teachers and language professionals with the scholarly, employability, social and professional capabilities that will support their practice in their local as well as international environments. An outstanding educational experience will be enabled through engaging with a range of theories and principles related to knowledge about language, language learning and language teaching, and connecting with workplace partners in authentic work integrated learning activities. A set of four graduate capability aspects underpins the aim of the course: Capability 1 Scholar: Applied Linguistics and TESOL graduates will be research-informed and research-enabled scholars with broad and coherent knowledge and skills relevant to the discipline.
