About this program
Monash's Bachelor of Applied Data Science combines information technology and mathematics skills to extract meaning from large volumes of data, working through both group and individual projects that apply data science techniques to real problems rather than staying purely theoretical. Students choose a stream to apply their data science skills toward, whether that's physical sciences, sociology and anthropology, business or engineering, meaning the degree can lead toward quite different career directions depending on which stream a student picks. That combination of technical data skills and a chosen application domain is designed to make graduates genuinely versatile problem solvers across industries that increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making, from policy and NGOs to corporate strategy and scientific research. - 36 pointsThe course comprises 144 points of which 132 points are focused on Applied Data Science. The course is structured in four parts: Part A. Data Challenges
- 72 pointsPart B. Techniques for data science
- Part C. Applied studies (24 points) and Part D. Elective (12 points). No more than 10 units (60 points) are to be completed at level 1 in the course. Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated.
