Bachelor of Global Studies

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Bachelor of Global Studies is built around a compulsory period of overseas study, either at a Monash international campus or a partner university, reflecting the degree's core premise that understanding global challenges requires genuinely global experience rather than studying international issues from one location. The course develops leadership capabilities including creativity, teamwork, intercultural collaboration and critical thinking, applying these directly in practical, real-world contexts through core units designed around applied learning rather than purely theoretical global studies content. Students build a rich understanding of how local, regional and global forces interact, developing flexible, interdisciplinary approaches to problems that don't respect neat academic boundaries. It suits students aiming for careers in international organisations, global policy, development, diplomacy or any field where understanding cross-border dynamics matters, and the mandatory mobility component means students graduate with genuine lived international experience rather than only classroom knowledge of global issues.
