Doctor of Podiatric Medicine

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Doctor of Podiatric Medicine is a graduate-entry route into podiatry for students who already hold an undergraduate science degree, delivered over three years with foundational science and clinical skills introduced in year one before clinical placements begin in years two and three. The integrated, case-based curriculum moves from simulated clinical settings into acute, subacute, community and private practice placements, with an independent research project in the final years letting students pursue an area of particular interest. Graduates meet Podiatry Board of Australia registration requirements, including endorsement to use scheduled medicines, which matters because it lets Monash-trained podiatrists prescribe certain medications independently rather than always referring out. It suits science graduates who've decided on podiatry as a healthcare career, offering a faster, more focused path to registration than restarting an undergraduate podiatry degree, and the accelerated three-year structure assumes students arrive with a solid foundational science background already in place.
