Master of Biomedical Science

Monash University, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

Monash's Master of Biomedical Science, distinct from the coursework Master of Biomedical and Health Science, is a research-only degree where students independently investigate a self-formulated research problem in biomedical science under close supervision, rather than completing set coursework units. Because the course is entirely research-driven, the actual content depends on the individual student's chosen research topic and supervisory team within the biomedical sciences. Entry requires strong prior academic performance, typically an honours degree with an upper second-class result or completion of Part 1 of the same master's program, reflecting the research-intensive nature of the degree. It suits biomedical science graduates who have a genuine research question they want to pursue and are considering further research study or a research career, rather than students wanting a taught postgraduate qualification with a fixed curriculum.
