About this program
Monash's Master of Engineering Science (Research) is a research-only degree where students independently investigate a self-formulated engineering research problem under supervision, rather than completing a fixed set of coursework units. Because the course structure is entirely research-driven, the specific content and direction depends on the individual student's chosen engineering discipline and research question, making it fundamentally different from any of Monash's coursework engineering master's degrees. - Course requirements This course consists of a research and thesis component. You must, in consultation with and under the direct supervision of a member/s of the academic staff: carry out a program of research on an agreed topic approved by the faculty in your chosen discipline for a specified period, including attending and/or presenting at seminars and other related activities as indicated by the faculty submit for assessment a thesis of not more than 50,000 words on the program of research which meets the requirements of the examiners. Submission of a thesis including published works may be permitted.
