About this program
Monash's Master of Public Policy builds practical knowledge for international policy careers, covering how policy is actually formed and delivered alongside the political and structural realities that shape decision-making inside government and public institutions. Students choose to specialise in global studies, developing policymaking skills for international contexts, or policy studies, which offers streams including criminology, cultural and creative industries, diplomacy and international trade, family violence prevention, global migration, health and social policy, public finance, regulatory policy and urban policy. That breadth of streams lets the degree serve very different career paths under one qualification, from urban planning policy to international diplomacy. It suits people aiming for policy development or program delivery roles across government, not-for-profit and private organisations at any level of government, and the specialisation structure means two graduates of this degree might end up with quite different substantive policy expertise depending on the streams they chose.

- The course comprises 96 credit points structured into four parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Professional practice studies, Part C. Applied studies, and Part D. Specified elective studies. Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated. Part A.
