About this program
The Accelerated Research Masters with Training is a 12-month research pathway for graduate students who want to expand their knowledge and undertake research in a chosen area. The course takes an interdisciplinary approach, with students working alongside peers to address United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through a dedicated design thinking unit. Students also study research methods and research impact, and work with a supervisory team on a research project in their area of interest. Across the course, students develop high level technical and creative skills to investigate, analyse and synthesise complex information, problems, concepts and theories, apply theories to different bodies of knowledge or practice, plan and execute a substantial research based project, and build theoretical knowledge to critically reflect on theory and professional practice. The Bioplastics Innovation Hub (BIH), a collaborative project between Murdoch University, CSIRO and industry partners, researches and develops compostable bioplastics using organic waste. This includes a Research Masters with Training specialising in Advanced Biomanufacturing, intended to help build the skilled workforce needed for bioplastics production in Australia.

Course structure
- There is no unit-based curriculum. Candidates complete a supervised
- independent research project in their chosen field
- with milestones including a research proposal
- a progress review
- and submission of a thesis for examination
Admissions
To be eligible for admission as a candidate into the M1315 Accelerated Research Masters with Training an applicant must: • have a Bachelor Degree in the same or cognate discipline (AQF level 7); or • have a Bachelor Degree in a different discipline (AQF level 7) and: 1. have successfully completed a graduate course incorporating research training of at least six months of equivalent full-time study (AQF level 8); or 2. satisfy the Dean of Graduate Research with evidence of significant scholarly or professional attainments equivalent to AQF level 8. And Satisfy the English language requirements for entry into a Higher Degrees by Research program at Murdoch University
