About this program
This combined coursework and research program is the only one of its kind in Western Australia. Candidates train across a broad range of veterinary science disciplines, including epidemiology and public health, parasitology, and clinical specialities, using Murdoch's on-campus veterinary facilities. Where required, candidates also have access to Whitby Falls Farm, a 203-hectare heritage-listed off-campus teaching and research property located 46 kilometres south of Perth, which provides further experience in livestock research. The degree focuses on advanced academic preparation in applied research, covering analytical and research skills in veterinary science across clinical and non-clinical disciplines, and culminates in a research thesis. Veterinarian is a nationally skilled occupation in shortage in regional and rural Australia, with registration handled by each state's veterinary board. The course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.

Admissions
To be eligible for admission as a candidate for a Doctor of Veterinary Medical Science, an applicant must have: *Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Science with at least a 2A Honours normally in the same discipline (AQF level 8); ora Bachelor Degree in Veterinary Science (AQF level 7) and satisfy the Dean of Graduate Research with evidence of substantive and significant scholarly or professional attainments including satisfactory research preparation the equivalent of AQF level 8 or 9.
