Course structure

1 term of coursework

  • Core topics covered in this course include: Food engineering and how to analyse and communicate how raw materials and processing affects final food product quality and nutrition. Importance of food safety and how to adapt food production processes to incorporate risk analysis and food safety planning. Food product design solutions to address problems in, or improve, food products and systems (product development, quality improvement, shelf-life extension or engineering optimisation). Key principles of human nutrition. Deliver an original piece of food industry research. Not only could I study a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Biology and Toxicology, and a Bachelor of Criminology, but I had the opportunity to study them as a combined degree. Admissions

Bachelor of Science in cognate discipline (AQF Level 7). Other AQF Level 7 qualifications will be considered if they are broadly relevant to food science and contain units in biological or chemical sciences, at the discretion of the Academic Chair. OR Successful completion of the requirements for G1095 (Graduate Diploma in Food Science).
