Master of Philosophy

Murdoch University, Perth, WA, Australia

About this program

The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is an internationally recognised graduate research degree involving a substantial, independently researched project under the guidance of a supervisory team. It results in a thesis that represents an original contribution to knowledge and demonstrates capacity for critical analysis and application of specialist knowledge, though the scope and degree of originality required is typically more limited than for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Some students go on to convert to or continue into a PhD, and some PhD candidates instead finish early with an MPhil. Candidates work with a supervisory team of academics in their field and have opportunities to attend national and international conferences. Candidature is offered across all disciplines, including interdisciplinary areas as well as the core disciplines. This course is delivered by Murdoch University in Western Australia.
