About this program
Policymaking addresses the social, environmental, and economic issues affecting states and communities. The Master of Public Policy covers the skills needed to respond to complex policy problems and design workable solutions, with units covering both content knowledge and professional skills and assessments oriented toward work as a policy analyst. Murdoch states the course was developed in consultation with relevant stakeholders, and that graduates are sought after in government, the public sector, the not-for-profit sector, and consulting. Public policy is not on Australia's skilled occupation lists, and many public-sector roles in Australia require citizenship, which limits direct government employment for international graduates. The degree is more directly relevant to roles in non-government organisations, international organisations, or further academic study.
