About this program
The RMIT Bachelor of Space Science develops critical skills in space science and technology, connecting the upstream (build and launch) and downstream (application of space-related products and services) industries. Described as unlike any other degree in Australia, RMIT leads in space science and engineering research and provides a unique mix of physics, geospatial science, mathematics, statistics and specialised space studies. Graduates work in the space and satellite industry, Earth observation and geospatial services, research, and defence.

Course structure
- Year 1 In your first year
- you will study fundamental science concepts across our common first year and begin your space science foundations. You will gain knowledge of calculus
- physics
- space exploration
- and physical sciences. Year 2 In your second year
- you will enhance your understanding of mechanics
- data preprocessing
- rocket science
- satellites and space debris
- remote sensing
- digital signal processing
- programming and geodesy. You can also study some of RMIT's Future Technology Skills subjects. Options include: Foundations of AI for STEM STEM for Sustainable Development Innovation Ecosystem and Future of Work Cyber-Physical-Biological Systems Year 3 In your final year
- you will complete a space science capstone project of your choosing. Working under the guidance of a professional scientist
- you will have the opportunity to learn
- apply and demonstrate professional science practice. You will study microgravity science
- classical and quantum mechanics
- electromagnetism
- satellite remote sensing
- data analysis
- and astrophysics and cosmology. You will also be able to choose a cross disciplinary minor in geospatial science or mathematics for space science
- or explore other topics of interest across STEM

Admissions
Prerequisites: Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English other than EAL; or a study score of at least 27 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent studies . AND Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 20 in one of Maths: General Mathematics, Maths: Mathematical Methods or Maths: Specialist Mathematics or equivalent studies. Rankings and adjustment factors Entry to this course is competitive. Eligible applicants are ranked and selected in order of merit based on their academic achievement plus any adjustment factors. You may be eligible to receive adjustment factors which include equity access schemes and/or subject adjustments to a maximum of 28 aggregate adjustment points.
