About this program
The Diploma of Laboratory Technology at RMIT University builds on a foundation of scientific knowledge to develop a deeper understanding of scientific principles and a wider range of laboratory skills. As a laboratory technician, graduates can conduct tests for pathologists, biochemists, clinical chemists, pharmacologists, veterinarians and microbiologists, providing technical support to scientists in research, production and testing roles. Under supervision, students examine changes in cells and tissues, perform chemical analyses of blood and other body fluids, and assist with research. Graduates can work in hospitals, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, pathology laboratories and government departments.
