The RMIT Master of Public Policy deepens understanding of critical societal issues and engagement in policy development, taught by leading policy academics and industry professionals and reflecting the latest debates and approaches to global, national and local policymaking. - Year 1 Year 2 Work-integrated learning (WIL) Learning outcomes Electives Year 1 Year 1 Develop the analytical skills and professional foundations needed to navigate today's complex policy environment. In your first year, you'll build expertise in systems thinking, ethics, critical thinking and policy analysis while learning how evidence, politics and implementation shape public policy. You'll also begin tailoring your degree through electives or a minor, allowing you to explore policy areas or complementary skills aligned with your career goals. Year 2 Year 2 Apply your knowledge to real-world policy challenges and graduate ready to lead meaningful change. In your second year, you'll tackle complex policy issues through immersive learning experiences, including the Policy Lab, advanced seminars and an independent capstone project. You'll strengthen your research, leadership and professional practice while working on authentic policy problems that prepare you for senior roles across government, industry and the not-for-profit sector. Work-integrated learning (WIL) Work-integrated learning (WIL) In the Master of Public Policy, you will undertake 2 designated WIL courses that will bring together an understanding of theoretical perspectives, design methodologies, and the use, scoping and critique of applied policy research by community and public sector agencies. Policy Analysis and Advice In this course, you will integrate what you have learned across the program and apply it to the craft of policy advising. You will undertake industry-engaged activities related to a simulated policy analysis and advice challenge. Admissions
Academic requirements 2-year duration An Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent overseas qualification) with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5 (out of 4.0); OR A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a designated policy position (equivalent to VPS4), or equivalent.
