About this program
This is TAFE Queensland's bridging qualification for people who already have IT or related experience but need a formal, accredited cyber security credential fast, and its own marketing is explicit that the intended endpoint is the Master of Cyber Security (Advanced), with graduates able to fast-track straight in rather than starting a master's from scratch. As a standalone qualification it also stands on its own for anyone not planning to continue to postgraduate level.
Content splits fairly evenly between technical security work (system security, digital forensics, ethical hacking and defensive techniques) and governance: cyber policy, compliance and organisational risk. That combination is deliberate; TAFE Queensland is explicit that the course is meant to produce people who understand both the attack surface and the regulatory environment around it, rather than pure penetration testers.
Entry accepts a relevant AQF 5 qualification plus two years' relevant work experience, a relevant bachelor's degree completed within six years, or three years of directly relevant work experience with no formal qualification, which makes this a realistic option for experienced IT staff without a cyber-specific degree.

- Capstone: applied security assessment project
- Progression: graduates can fast-track into the Master of Cyber Security (Advanced) with credit for equivalent units
