About this program
The Advanced Diploma in Philosophy builds on the Diploma in Theology with a specialised focus on philosophy, developing foundational skills for critical study of Christian texts alongside philosophical analysis and argument. Students engage theological, scriptural and philosophical knowledge and apply it to their own and other contexts, including through practical ministry settings. It is delivered by two University of Divinity member colleges (Catholic Theological College and Yarra Theological Union) and can be undertaken on its own or combined with the Bachelor of Theology as a dual qualification.

- The award consists of 288 points across 16 standard undergraduate units: 18 points each in Old Testament
- New Testament
- Church History and Systematic Theology
- 144points in Philosophy
- 36 further points from Biblical Studies and/or Christian Thought and History
- and 36 further points in any discipline. Standard full-time duration is 2 years (up to 8 years part-time)
Admissions
Minimum academic requirement is one of an Australian Year 12 qualification or the Diploma in Theology; probationary admission is not available. Up to 180 points of credit may be granted, including 144 points toward the Diploma of Catholic Youth Ministry (10603NAT or 11013NAT) split across Biblical Studies, Systematic Theology and Mission and Ministry, per the University's Credit Policy.
