Bachelor of Ministry

University of Divinity, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

The Bachelor of Ministry is the more vocationally focused sibling of the Bachelor of Theology: same three-year, four-field structure (Humanities, Biblical Studies, Christian Thought and History, and Theology: Mission and Ministry), but weighted harder toward the Mission and Ministry strand and toward practical placement, aimed squarely at students heading into lay ministry, youth or community ministry, or pastoral leadership roles that don't require the extended academic and language training built into a Master of Divinity.

Students complete it through one of the University of Divinity's member colleges, and many are already working in a church or parachurch role while studying part-time, which the degree structure accommodates: it can stretch to nine years part-time, the same maximum as the Bachelor of Theology.

It functions as a practical entry point into vocational ministry for people who know their calling is hands-on pastoral and community work rather than academic theology, without foreclosing the option of moving on to a Master of Divinity or Master of Theology later.
