About this program
The Graduate Diploma in Spiritual Direction provides formation for the ministry of spiritual direction, with students exploring the dynamics of Christian spirituality through reflection on personal experience integrated with the literature. Graduates are equipped for the ministry of spiritual direction within their particular tradition. It is delivered through four distinct named formation programs at four member colleges (WellSpring at Whitley College, Siloam at Yarra Theological Union, Dayspring at Uniting College for Leadership and Theology, and a fourth program at St Francis College), each with its own core unit sequence, rather than one shared curriculum.

- The award consists of 144 points (6 standard postgraduate units), delivered through one of four college-specific programs, each with its own core units, for example DD8202W Art of Spiritual Companioning 1 and DD8203W Art of Spiritual Companioning 2 (WellSpring, Whitley College)
- DD8701Y Religious Experience and the Christian Spiritual Tradition and DD8705Y Spiritual Direction Practicum I (Siloam, Yarra Theological Union)
- DD8740Z Contemplative Stance and Soul Care and DD8741Z Spiritual Direction Praxis 1 (Dayspring, Uniting College for Leadership and Theology)
- and DD8411Z Contemplative Presence and DD8412Z Spiritual Direction Foundations (St Francis College). Standard full-time duration is 1 year (up to 4 years part-time)
Admissions
Minimum academic requirement is one of an undergraduate degree or a Graduate Certificate; probationary admission is not available. Up to 72 points of credit may be granted, per the University's Credit Policy.
