Master of Mechanical Engineering

University of Melbourne, Melbourne, VIC, Australia

About this program

The Master of Mechanical Engineering trains students to design and build machines and systems from small-scale devices to aircraft and spacecraft, covering mechanical design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, dynamics and materials. Applicants with a relevant undergraduate major complete it in two years; others take three years. Students can specialise in Aerospace, Business or Manufacturing, or study without a specialisation, and apply their skills through internships, industry projects and innovation challenges with industry mentors. It is taught on campus at Parkville with March and July intakes, with access to advanced laboratories and a heavy engineering workshop. The degree carries professional accreditation recognised internationally. Graduates work as mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing and design engineers across energy, transport, defence, robotics, biomedical devices and consulting.
