PhD

Doctor of Philosophy

University of Notre Dame Australia, Fremantle, WA / Sydney, NSW, Australia

About this program

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) offered through the School of Arts and Sciences is a thesis-based research degree individually designed around the methodology required and the nature of the candidate's thesis topic. It may be completed as a traditional thesis, a thesis by publication, or a non-traditional thesis (exegesis) with a creative artefact, and should make an original and substantial contribution to the humanities, social sciences, applied sciences, or Aboriginal studies. As with other research doctorates in this rotation, the university's own page for this award is deliberately thin (a legitimate feature of individually-designed research degrees, not a content gap): it does not publish a fixed unit list because the program of study is negotiated per candidate with a research supervisor.
