About this program
The Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Queensland trains students in the fundamentals of cell and molecular biology through to human anatomy and physiology, using teaching laboratories equipped with more than $15 million of research equipment. Students learn the scientific process through experimental design and computer modelling, and can explore a research career through UQ's Summer or Winter Research Programs or a small research project in third year. Core courses include integrative cell and tissue biology, principles of anatomy and physiology, developmental biology and neuroscience, and microbiology and immunology, taught by award-winning biomedical researchers. Many students use the degree as a stepping stone into medicine or allied health postgraduate study rather than an endpoint qualification. Typical graduate roles include biomedical scientist, clinical trials research assistant and IVF scientist.
