Bachelor of Health, Sport and Physical Education (Honours)

University of Queensland, Brisbane, QLD, Australia

About this program

UQ's Bachelor of Health, Sport and Physical Education (Honours) trains the next generation of secondary school health, physical education and senior biology teachers, and is Australia's longest-running university-based physical education teaching program. Students complete more than 100 days of supervised practical teaching placement, roughly a full school term, alongside coursework in biomechanics, sport and health in society, and sport coaching, and can train and practise in UQ's Olympic-standard sporting facilities including an aquatic centre and athletics centre. The honours structure builds in a research component on top of standard teacher training, giving graduates an edge when applying for teaching positions in Queensland and interstate. Graduates typically register as secondary health and physical education teachers, senior biology teachers, or move into sports coaching roles outside the classroom.
