About this program

The Graduate Certificate in English Studies at the University of Sydney is a six-month postgraduate coursework graduate certificate. This program brings together contemporary critical theory with literary narratives and investigates how and why literature still enjoys particular resonance in the 21st century. Students consider the ways in which the study of literature works in a specifically Australian cultural context. Students complete 24 credit points, including: a minimum of 12 credit points of core units of study; and a maximum of 12 credit points from elective units of study. Students also have the option of taking creative writing units of study in contemporary poetry, fiction and screenwriting.
