About this program
The Master of Bioethics at the University of Sydney is a 1-year postgraduate coursework master's degree. Bioethics is a field that studies ethical challenges that arise in health care, public health and the life sciences. It thinks about and responds to social concerns about issues including social engineering, migrant or prisoner health, animal experimentation, and ethical challenges in clinical medicine. Students don’t have to come from a medical or health background to study bioethics. The students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, such as philosophy, humanities, social science, law, science, medicine, nursing, allied health professions, psychology and health management. The faculty members, based at Sydney Health Ethics, have a wide range of expertise, research interests, and professional backgrounds. The school are made up of sociologists, pharmacists, public health experts, philosophers, historians, and medical doctors.
