About this program
The Master of Crosscultural Communication at the University of Sydney, known as the Master of Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics, gives students the concepts and methods of linguistics and cross-cultural research and applies them to marketing, education, TESOL, community relations, media, medicine and business. Core units build foundational knowledge of language, culture and society, finishing with a capstone professional practice unit and electives chosen from across the University.
Graduates work across public relations, multilingual education, community engagement, TESOL teaching, media and doctor-patient communication in health settings.

Admissions
Entry in the 1 year or 2 year degree program is determined by the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) criteria below: Admission to candidature for the Master of Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics (2 years full-time) requires: a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit (65%) average calculated over the whole degree, from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification. Admission to candidature for the Master of Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics (1.5 years full-time) requires: a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit (65%) average in a relevant discipline, calculated over the whole degree, from the University of Sydney, or an equivalent qualification; or completion of the embedded Graduate Certificate in Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification; or relevant professional work experience. Admission to candidature for the Master of Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics (1 year full-time) requires: completion of the embedded Graduate Diploma in Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics with a minimum credit (65%) average, or an equivalent qualification; or an Honours degree in a relevant discipline; or relevant professional work experience and a bachelor's degree with a minimum credit (65%) average or an equivalent qualification. If you do not meet the requirements listed above for direct entry to the Master’s degree, you may be able to enter via a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in the same subject area and upgrade to the Master’s after successful completion of the shorter course.
