- The Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science with Honours is a one-year honours program delivered through the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), combining advanced research training with specialised supervision. Full-time students enrol in Part 1 (25%) and Part 2 (25%) in one semester, then Part 3 (25%) and Part 4 (25%) in the following semester
- part-time students enrol sequentially, one part per semester. Students enrol in Part 1 first, then Part 2, and so on, irrespective of the semester in which they start. Pre-approved honours projects and IMAS staff profiles are published separately by IMAS

Admissions
Domestic candidates must have qualified for admission to the Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science or the Bachelor of Applied Science (Marine Environment) at the University of Tasmania, or hold an equivalent qualification from another approved tertiary institution, normally with at least a credit average in the last three semesters (full-time equivalent) of undergraduate study. Candidature is subject to appropriate supervision and project support being available for the approved thesis topic, and to satisfying prerequisites for the chosen field of study. International applicants need qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, must achieve the required grade in qualifying studies, meet any prerequisite subjects and English language requirements, and admission is conditional on research project and supervisor availability.
