  • The Master of Maritime Engineering requires completion of 200 credit points: 175 credit points of core units (including 50 credit points of research units, delivered as a dissertation with significant industry involvement) and 25 credit points of optional elective units, taken across Year 1 and Year 2. The course is designed for qualified engineers with a four-year bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline, delivered through interactive online study materials with on-campus learning available through the Australian Maritime College (AMC) in Launceston
  • no compulsory work placement is required since applicants already have engineering work experience. This course is currently under review for accreditation by Engineers Australia

Admissions

Domestic applicants need a full four-year Australian Bachelor of Engineering degree recognised under the Washington Accord (or equivalent), with a minimum of 12 weeks' full-time professional experience in a maritime or engineering field, certified by a recognised authority. International applicants need qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree, must achieve the required grade in qualifying studies, meet prerequisite subjects and English language requirements. Students may be eligible for a reduction in volume of learning of up to 100 credit points with a Bachelor Honours (AQF 8) in a cognate discipline, or up to 50 credit points with a Bachelor (AQF 7) in a cognate discipline. Graduates of the Graduate Diploma of Maritime Engineering (P6G) and/or Graduate Certificate in Maritime Engineering (P5G) from UTAS may articulate into this course with full credit.
