About this program
UNSW's Diploma in Media and Communication is a 12-month pathway into second year of the Bachelor of Media, letting students choose a specialisation in Cinema Studies, Communication and Journalism, Media Studies, PR and Advertising, or Screen Production from the outset. Students complete eight courses, a mix of prescribed courses, faculty electives and a general education elective, delivered at a slower pace with longer 12-week terms and greater contact hours than standard first-year study to ease the transition into university-level media study. After successfully completing all eight courses, students progress directly into second year of their chosen Bachelor of Media specialisation. It suits students who want a UNSW media degree but need a supported, slower-paced entry point before committing to full first-year media coursework, whether due to academic score, English proficiency or an educational gap.
