Graduate Certificate of Environmental Management

UNSW Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia

About this program

UNSW's Graduate Certificate of Environmental Management prepares students to identify the social, cultural and structural drivers of environmental issues at local and global scales, rather than treating environmental challenges as purely scientific or technical problems. The transdisciplinary program bridges social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, creative arts and participatory community approaches, building both conceptual understanding and practical, experiential tools for ethical and restorative sustainability work. Its flexible format, taught primarily face-to-face or blended with distance options outside field-based courses, suits both existing environmental specialists and newcomers from unrelated disciplines who want genuine environmental expertise. It suits people who want to work on environmental problems in a way that takes social and political context seriously, rather than a purely technical environmental science credential, and functions as a fast entry point into the field or a stepping stone toward the longer Graduate Diploma and Master of Environmental Management.
