Graduate Diploma in Science (Research)

UNSW Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia

About this program

The Graduate Diploma in Science (Research) at UNSW Sydney provides specialised knowledge and research training in disciplines across the Faculty of Science. It can serve as a higher degree qualifying program for students who do not yet meet the criteria for direct entry to Honours or to MSc and PhD programs, as a way to upgrade existing qualifications, or as a means to develop expertise in a related discipline different from a first degree. Students complete disciplinary coursework of 18 to 24 units of credit and a substantial independent research project of 24 to 30 units of credit, with the exact balance of coursework and research varying by school. Candidates also undertake work health and safety training, attend and present seminars, write a literature review, and produce a thesis. The program runs one year full time and is based at the UNSW Kensington campus in Sydney.
