About this program
UNSW's Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science builds on the shorter Graduate Certificate with a longer, deeper program for engineers and graduates wanting to expand knowledge in their current specialisation or acquire skills in a new one, while meeting or maintaining professional accreditation standards along the way. The program broadens general engineering knowledge alongside engineering management skills, developing technical analysis and problem-solving ability beyond what a standalone certificate can cover, and functions as a direct pathway into the Master of Engineering Science for students who want to keep progressing. It suits practising engineers who found the Graduate Certificate too short for their needs but aren't yet ready to commit to a full master's degree, giving them a genuine middle option with credit that carries forward if they later decide to continue studying.

Admissions
Up to 24 UOC of advanced standing may be granted to candidates with degrees from cognate programs. All courses completed towards the Graduate Certificate of Engineering Science at UNSW will be recognised for the purpose of advanced standing for the Graduate Diploma of Engineering Science. Entry into the Graduate Diploma in Engineering Science program depends on the specialisation you are applying for, and requires: For Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geoenergy and Geostorage Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Engineering Geology, Structural Engineering, Sustainable Systems, Transport Engineering, Water Engineering: Catchments to Coasts, Water, Wastewater and Waste Engineering: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (AQF Level 7/8 or equivalent), with a minimum credit average (equivalent to a UNSW WAM of 65); or • Bachelor's degree in Enginee...
