Master of Biomedical Engineering

UNSW's Master of Biomedical Engineering is only available to students already enrolled in specific double degree pathways, either the Engineering (Honours)/Biomedical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering (Honours)/Biomedical Engineering programs, rather than as a standalone qualification students can apply for directly. The degree applies engineering principles to healthcare technology and problems across an unusually broad range of applications, spanning implantable bionics, drug delivery systems, medical imaging, radiotherapy, orthopedic devices, telemedicine, robotic surgery, tissue engineering and physical rehabilitation. Because it only exists within these double degree structures, students planning a biomedical engineering career at UNSW need to enrol in the relevant combined program from the outset rather than adding biomedical engineering as an afterthought. It suits engineering students who know early on that they want to apply their technical training specifically to healthcare and medical technology problems.
