About this program

The Master of Biomedical Engineering at UNSW Sydney applies engineering principles to health care technologies and problems in fields such as implantable bionics, drug delivery systems, medical imaging, radiotherapy, orthopaedic devices, telemedicine, robotic surgery, and cell and tissue engineering. This award is available only to students enrolled in the Engineering (Honours) / Biomedical Engineering or Materials Science and Engineering (Honours) / Biomedical Engineering double degree programs, and is not offered as a standalone degree. It is taken as the masters component of those double degrees, typically adding around 1.7 years of full-time study, and is based at the UNSW Kensington campus in Sydney. Graduates work as biomedical engineers across medical device companies, hospitals, research institutes and regulatory bodies.
